BIOGRAPHY
Matteo Weber (b. 2002) began his pianistic career at the age of thirteen when he won first prize at the Bach Competition in Köthen. In 2016, he was named "Piano Talent of the Year" at the Klavierpodium München and subsequently made a name for himself as a prize winner in numerous national and international competitions. His achievements include prizes at the César Franck Competition in Brussels, the International Music Festival in Paris, the Mendelssohn
University Competition in Berlin and the Vigo International Piano Competition (with Martha Argerich as jury president).
In 2025, he was awarded first prize in the piano category at the Elise Meyer Competition of the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg. In 2026, he was also honored with the Steinway Award (Steinway Förderpreis) in Hamburg.
As a soloist, his career has taken him to concert halls such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Philharmonie Essen, the Laeiszhalle Hamburg and the Main Hall of the Elbphilharmonie. He has appeared at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and as a soloist with the Baden-Baden Philharmonic.
Together with violinist Yoerae Kim, he released a CD of works by the brothers Philipp and Xaver Scharwenka on the Capriccio label in 2025.
A scholar of the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, he currently studies with Aleksandar Madžar at the University for Music and Drama Hamburg and Benedetto Lupo at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
Furthermore, he received artistic guidance through lessons with Fedele Antonicelli, Sontraud Speidel and Elisso Virsaladze.
