BIOGRAPHY

Matteo Weber (b. 2002) began his pianistic career at the age of thirteen when he won first prize at the Bach Competition in Köthen. In 2016, he was named "Piano Talent of the Year" at the Klavierpodium München and subsequently made a name for himself as a prize winner in numerous national and international competitions. His achievements include prizes at the César Franck Competition in Brussels, the International Music Festival in Paris, and the Mendelssohn
Hochschulwettbewerb in Berlin. In 2025, he was awarded first prize in the piano category at the Elise Meyer Competition of the University of Music and Theatre Hamburg (HfMT). In 2026, he was also honored with the Steinway Award (Steinway Förderpreis) in Hamburg.
As a soloist, his performances have taken him to venues such as the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Philharmonie Essen, and the Laeiszhalle Hamburg. In 2026, he will perform as a soloist at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as in the Grand Hall of the Elbphilharmonie.
In addition to his solo activities, he is deeply dedicated to the chamber music repertoire. In 2025, a recording of the violin sonatas by the brothers Philipp and Xaver Scharwenka, recorded with violinist Yoerae Kim, was released on the Capriccio label.
Following studies with Fedele Antonicelli and Sontraud Speidel, he is currently continuing his education with Aleksandar Madžar at the HfMT Hamburg and with Elisso Virsaladze at the Scuola di Musica di Fiesole.

“[…] Through his playing technique, characterised by great elegance and the utmost mastery and control, and featuring a wealth of tonal nuances, Weber […] was able to conjure up a piano sound all of his own, which almost made one forget the very principle of the piano – the touch.”
